Module 6: Justice in a Changing World
New Frontiers. New Questions. New Responsibilities.
New Frontiers. New Questions. New Responsibilities.
Overview
As the world transforms, so must our ideas of justice.
Technology is rewriting our lives. The planet is in crisis. Social identities are shifting. Nations are more connected — and more divided — than ever before.
This module explores the evolving frontiers of justice:
Where the law meets money, migration, machines, and the environment.
Where justice asks not just what is legal — but what is right in a rapidly changing world.
We will ask:
• Can machines make fair decisions?
• Can borders be just?
• Does wealth buy access to the law?
• Who speaks for the voiceless — from the poor to the unborn?
And most importantly:
What kind of justice system do we want to create for the future?
Learning Goals
By the end of this module, students will be able to:
• Analyze how modern forces — like technology, economics, and climate change — challenge traditional ideas of justice
• Explore the moral and legal tensions around civil disobedience, disability access, and environmental protection
• Evaluate competing visions for the future of justice, including restorative, ecological, and post-national frameworks
• Reflect on their own values and responsibilities in shaping a just world
Why It Matters
Justice is no longer just a courtroom question.
It is a question of who we are becoming — as citizens, as neighbors, as human beings.
If we don’t rethink justice, we risk losing it.
This module invites you not only to study justice — but to reimagine it.
